Community Gardening

First Sunday of every month. Meet at the Safe ‘Ouse in the park from 11 am or look out for anyone wielding gardening tools and join them. It includes litter picking for those with non-green fingers

Regular healthy and hearty recipe bags distributed to the children of the dings, designed to encourage their interest in food through English (recipes) maths (quantities), Science (food interaction) and home tech. Supports over 20 local families and encourages community cohesion and engagement.

Summer Fun Days

Yearly the dings host a fun day to get the whole community engaged in a shared day for the local children. There’s always a great turnout with local businesses kindly supporting our Food & drinks stalls, entertainment, raffles, giveaways, and much more (one year we even had a dinosaur).

Street Parties

A host of parties to get the community spirit flowing, including VE Day, Queen’s Jubilee, & ad-hoc summer events.

The container situated in Dings Park is the centre of our community and runs a series of regular events for the community including

  • Monday after-school homework club (English) is run by Bristol Hub
  • Tuesday carer’s private (closed session)
  • Wednesday’s after-school homework club (Maths and Science) is also run by Bristol Hub.
    • 4-5 pm for Primary age children.
    • 5-6 pm for secondary-age children.
  • Thursday youth club for ages 11 to 18 yrs.*
  • Friday youth club for ages 8 to 11 yrs running cooking, creative crafts, outdoor activities & national celebrations days.

It’s also available for rent and contains kitchen facilities, a toilet, wi-fi & is fully heated – contact sallycaseley@gmail.com for details. (The youth club needs a new cooker, if anyone has a spare – as it cannot put oven and grill on at same time – power trips)

Dings Park

A child’s playground is available for the younger children, with swings, slide, balance bars, boat play area, rockers & see-saw (and check out the dings mural).

There’s also an area outside the Safe’Ouse with a spinner and a seating area for the older children and picnic benches for adults to hang out. There’s also a ping pong table (unfortunately in need of repair currently).

Basketball Court

The basketball court is available for general public use It also plays host to the regular Saturday football club with the kids organised by Luis as a volunteer 

Main Park

The main park is used to exercise dogs, have picnics, and spend time sitting on the benches, the gardening group tend to the raised planters and keeps a general check on the area.
