Remembering Seymours

Seymours was a very key part of the community back in the day and there was a lovely discussion on the facebook site – here’s part of it.

Just up the road. Who remembers Richard and Seymour’s family club?

Booo. Hello Richard here. This came up on Facebook. Had to answer. Great to hear you all loved Seymours. I loved my 20 years at the club. Mind you I am 80 now and live in Spain with my wife Anne, Bunty the dog and of course Tipzy the parrot remember her.?? she is 21yrs old. If you wish to ask anything just ask. I used to do a lot of Discos in the settlement, Barton Hill as well. Under Madrich. Xx🐕🦜👍💜

Richard Seymour hi Richard it was good to see you living a new sunny life. I had several kids parties at your club back in the 90’s and later when I worked for the red Cross you were kind enough to allow me a regular weekly spot at the club to chat to anyone that had any problems they wanted help sorting out. Tbh nobody ever came and I just used to end up spending the time chatting to your wife. Take care lovely x

Richard Seymour Hey Richard . I had the best birthday party there, & enjoyed many a disco nights with my mate Toni Wren, doing all the dance moves to the latest pop music,as her nan Val & my mum Melanie drank the bar dry..lol…

Sadly my mum passed in 2011, but i have found memories of being with her at your place. Thank you! You were great with us kids.. I wish you & your family health & happiness in Spain

Remembering a community Feast

January 25th 2009 – can you believe we held a community feast on this day 14 years ago?

In case anyone is wondering what all the kerfuffle is about, they’re filming a series called The Killing Kind.

There was a lot going on in avon street this month – turns out we hadn’t been transported to London it was just Eleventh Hour Films filming The Killing Kind for Paramount+ on Avon Street on Saturday, January 21st, 2023.

Willow trees to be planted as part of new development close to where trees felled

A new planning application for a site close to Temple Meads next to where the willow trees were cut down in November includes the planting of new waterside willows among dozens of new trees in what developers promise will be a “highly sustainable car-free development”.

The development on land between Valentine Bridge and the cheesegrater bridge that has been vacant for nearly three decades will feature 108 flats, a hotel and apart-hotel, as well as space for a shop, cafe, bar and restaurant.

Year of roadworks planned near Temple Meads as work to upgrade gas pipes gets underway

Motorists in Bristol have been warned to expect delays in the Temple Quay area as £1m worth of investment works to upgrade gas pipes are due to get underway next week. Wales & West Utilities will be undertaking the overhaul, which it says is essential to keep the gas flowing safely to local homes and businesses while also making sure the gas network is ready to transport green gases in the future.

Traffic lights will be in place along Feeder Road at its junction with St Anne’s Road from February 6, and a road closure will also be put in place at its junctions with Arlington Road and Newbridge Road. Wales & West say that a diversion will be signposted; however, motorists travelling through the area have been warned to expect delays and allow extra travelling time.

Hi Everyone, is there any recommendation for a removal company (Man and Van) in Bristol please? Thank you!!

Thought it was worth storing the responses here in case any of us are of need of suggestions in the future. “Bristol Van Removals“, “Lovely Jubbly Removals” & “Managed Mayhem Removals” were all suggested.
